I asked the group a question the other day about fitting a fuel line to my
MGB to supply my 302 Ford engine. I did receive a couple replies with
agreement on 3/8 size, but one reminder that MG supply was smaller. I
measured my new tank, and the supply fitting is 1/4" I.D.. My question is -
has anyone out there actually successfully used the original MG supply
fitting in the tank with a larger fuel line (5/16 or 3/8) and a high flow
pump with an engine developing around 300 hp? I'm concerned about the
limitations of the roughly 12" or 1/4 ID pipe inside the tank and the 90
degree fitting as a restrictive 'kink' in the system, making all the high
flow equipment capacity non-functional. Can anyone suggest a way (and a
source of parts) to retrofit a larger diameter pickup into my tank? (Being
new, I wont have welding problems). The one in there now is welded to the
outside as well as to a spot welded bracket on the bottom middle.
