Kelvin, the sleeves are not proud of the block. On stock blocks there is
generally a bevel at the top of the sleeve.  The block may be resleeved.  The
steel shim gaskets are known to leak when the short bolts on the outside are
torqued to shop manual values.  The fix is to torque to lesser figure, 25-30
#', or use composite gaskets and leave those bolts out, as on the 4.0/4.6.
Composite gaskets are thicker, thus less compression.  John
