A lot depends upon engine placement. James, what engine mounts are you using &
what U-joint for the steering ?
I have set back engine mounts, generally referred to as "air conditioning" or
A/C mounts, that give additional set back. These may help. In my situation, I
have increased the set back an additional 1".
My own project car has the header close to the U-joint, but with enough
clearance to bolt & unbolt. I have a '78 with chrome bumper cross member &
extreme engine set back, but that would seem to make the problem worse, not
better. The late model U-joint is smaller than the early model, & that may
give some additional room.
