Hi John,
Just swing it in and bolt up the rubber mounts. The job is straightforward,
and there are no sheet metal considerations to worry about.
Be careful to watch the little fork end dangling under the gearbox. Have a
helper guide it into place as the gearbox is settled into the support rubbers.
To me, that's the only tricky part of the installation.
Fig A.7 shows the engine being lifted out of an assembled car.
Fig R.2 shows the body being lowered onto chassis with engine in place.

Mates

We are almost ready for the excitement of the "engine drop" to put the
rebuilt motor back into the restored frame. Before doing these things to a
TD, I know enough to ask "dumb questions." So here goes:

Can you do this? What I mean is can you just bolt the engine in the
frame or are there let's say "sheet metal considerations" where you later
find that a certain sheet metal panel or apron or such had to go under a
certain bolt or a shock or a rod before things are all buttoned up.

It seems to me that on disassembly there were some real funky sheet
metal things going on around the front shock absorners, but of course this
could be my imagination or it could be that things weren't put back
correctly another time.

Logically, you should be able to drop the drive train into the chassis
and roll -- or even drive it -- around.

Thanks
