Giday Douglas- I was taught by the old timers to run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature (usually 10 to 15 minutes), then shut it off. Re-torque each head bolt in the same sequence as before while the engine is still warm. Some engine builders recommend backing off the nut slightly and then bringing it back to torque specs. Recommendation for aluminum heads incidentally is to let them cool to room temperature before re-torque. FWIW Dallas |
