t reverse

hello folks
just bought a great old 52 td that is msotly original..and a little rough but
has the greatest old  character....when i put her in reverse she hops so bad
that despite what i do..up the revs...ease the clutch...etc...i cant get her
moving backwards without shaking jittering to pieces...any thoughts
