AFAIK: All C39PV generators regardless of which car they are fitted to put out
17 amps.
All C39PV2 put out 19 amps. The main differences between models are the
endplates for mountings and running changes to brushes, bearings etc. in
order to decrease expense or commonize parts.
Thus any C39PV2 generator will work in any TD-MGA, TR3, etc., if it uses the
proper endplates that match the car and armature if it drives the tack.
A check of the LUCAS parts manual shows the field coils of each type (C39PV or
C39PV2) to be identical. Armatures vary among three types probably
because of the use of the tack drive on some models and the uprating of the
ouput.
