All said and good, but check the wiring diagram again.

You fused correctly if the electrical power asways comes from the
battery. It only does when the engine isn't running and the cutout
opens! When the engine is running all the electrical power for the car
is coming from the dynamo once the cutout closes which is most of the
time! Current flow in the brown wire through the ammeter goes either
direction depending on whether the cutout is open or closed.

Thus fuse protection needs to be on the big fat yellow lead coming off
the dynamo and the A and A1 terminal of the control box. Remember,
fuses only protect the wire "downstream" from the fuse. It doens't
protect the wire "upstream."

Blake

FWIW:

1) When the cutout is open (I.E. engine off or low engine speeds),
current flows from the battery to the fuse block and also flows from the
battery through the ammeter to the control box (A terminal), and from
the control box A1 terminal to the light switch.

2) When the cutout closes, current flows from the dyanmo to the D
terminal of the control box. It then comes out of the A and A1
terminals of the control box. Power from the A terminal of the control
box goes through the ammeter to the starter switch. (Note that now the
current flow through the ammeter is reversed from the previous state
[1].) From there it is fed to the battery for charging the battery, and
to the fuse block for running those systems fused. Power coming out of
the A1 terminal acts the same as when the cutout is open.
