Scott,

Sorry to hear of your problems.  Perhaps you could share the name of the
shop/person here in PA that is working on your tranny.  I hope it is one of the
ones that I'm familiar with and would recommend.

I went through the same thing several years ago with the parts total being 
around
$1300 back then.  Now I wouldn't hesitate to use one of the five speed
conversions that are now on the market.  You may want to consider that yourself.
I know that one of them is based on the Ford Sierra box that was sold under the
name of Mercur here in the USA.  Not many were ever sold here even though
everything I ever saw about them was good.  I don't know how common parts for
these are here, but most likely with the relatively small amount of mileage we
put on our TDs nowadays it will outlast you.  The list probably has some menbers
who have done this.

BTW, have plans for British Car Day been made yet?  Is there a date or location
that has been decided on?
