Scott:

I think you found the grease nipple for the pedal bearings. It comes right
out of the frame. Lube it often! It your clutch engages slooowly when you
let your foot off the pedal, the grease is old and sticky. If your pedals
have excessive sideways play, you've been driving without any grease.
Unfortunately, my DPO never discovered this nipple. (He also never
discovered the nipples on the kingpins!)

While we're on the subject of lubrication, don't forget the door hinges!
Even modern cars need the door hinges lubed. I see people putting up with
terrible screeching noises from their doors day in and day out. Finally,
when they can't get the doors closed anymore, they take the car in to get
new hinges. Then they don't oil the new hinges, and the same thing happens
all over again!

Anyway, this is a pet peeve of mine (thanks to DPOs). Pedal bearings and
door hinges will not wear out if you keep them lubed. They just don't work
that hard! They run at a very low rpm for only a brief moment.

And then there's the distributor, DPOs like to run these dry also. Does
anyone else have lube points they'd like to point out.

BTW, MGBs have pedal bearings also. They don't have a grease nipple, but
they still need grease!
