Bob:
You have to be careful, if you use a timing light. The T series
distributors advance curve comes in at a very low RPM. If you set it at
idle, it is already advanced some. So! If you go by the light, you can be
retarded, even though you set it at TDC. I like to use approx 5 degrees
advance, when set statically. With a light you should set it at max RPM.
This is around 3000 RPM, depending on the dist. When you determine Max.
Then just advance a further 5 Degrees, and it should be right on.
