The lip seal used is 36mm x 47mm x 7mm. Chicago Rawhide part number
14005. Use an oil resistant RTV like Ultra-Blue, in the recessed areas
of the timing cover and the oil pan.
Replacement of the seal requires removal of the timing cover, the front
crank pulley nut (27mm?), the front pulley, and at least dropping the
oil pan. These are the directly affected parts. You might want to remove
the bonnet and radiator, just to see what you are actually working on.
And, the water pump housing might interfere with the timing cover
placement.
The crankshaft pulley should be inspected for a crack above the keyway
slot. This crack generally happens when placing the pulley onto the
crankshaft, with the woodruff key clearance too tight. The crack will
act like a flycutter on the oil seal, be it graphite impregnated rope,
or a modern oil seal.
Place RTV in both the timing cover and oil pan grooves, and install the
oil seal. Install the two pieces onto the engine. Coat the lip seal edge
with grease (vasoline). Install the crankshaft pulley. The pulley's
outer shaft diameter will help to center the oil seal in the cover and
pan.
