Fellow Listers:
Have got to tell someone about a recent purchase. Visited a friend's home who
had a TC basket case for sale. Not being sure whether I was up to the
challenge this friend mentioned that he knew of a 1954 TF 1500 for sale that
was complete and running. Visited the owner and mentally/verbally bought the
car on the spot. Visited with him the following week with wife and gave him
down payment. Car runs superbly well and looks half decent. Has black fenders
with red body, but overall a well maintained car. It needs all new rubber
pieces, as can be expected of a car so old, but everything else including the
wood seems relatively good. (Good Wood - must have done something right with
my life.) Plan to spend the next few weeks getting in parts needed to get it
roadworthy - hasn't been state inspected for ten years - and drive it for the
summer. Plan, then, to tear it down for a sorely needed repaint over the
winter months. Car also needs a top, but will order when car is home and in
my garage and I can look at all the items needing attention.
Sorry to be so long with all of this, but just had to tell somebody about the
great find. We often hear about cars hidden away in garages for years and
years - never thought I'd be lucky enough to find one that is as good a
condition as this appears to be.
