Hello Jack,
to fit a ring-seal to a new rear-engine-housing is easy,
but difficult on the old original housings,
as there is not much material to machine a seat.
On the original housings, after careful degreasing,
I build up the collar by about 1mm with two component
Epoxy or similar.
When cured, I use the oil scroll on the Crankshaft flange
by hand to grind the surplus Epoxy away,
always using the rear main bearing as a accurate guide.
So you get the minimum possible clearance, and totally in line.
Merry Christmas to you, and all of the MMM-group !
