Folks,
I'm going to be making a new fume excluder (I think that is what it's called)
that goes between the clutch housing and the gearbox that matches the cutout in
the bulkhead for my J2. My concerns are that the two original (?) ones I have
both have a couple of notches cut into the inside shape, one at the approx.
12:00 o'clock position about 2-1/2'' wide X 1/2'' deep and the other at the
approx. 6:00 o'clock position about 1-1/2'' wide X 1/8'' deep. I can't
determine if the notches are actually needed or what they may be for. Also, one
of the originals was split at what would be the top or 12:00 o'clock position
from the inside to the outside but again I can't determine what this may have
been for. The fume excluder can't be removed by itself unless the gearbox is
completely separated from the engine unless I'm missing something. Both of
these items also have a small hole about 1/8'' diameter on the driver's side
but not on the passenger's side. Why?
Thanks in advance,
John Libbert
