I tried a Teflon seal in the '39 and it dripped. I replaced it with a cork
taken from a good Beaujolais, and it worked a treat.
The corks only last around 15-20 years, though.
The advantage over the Teflon is that the Teflon isn't sealing in something
worth drinking; the cork, on the other hand, conceals something worthwhile!
