Wow. One could write a book on that subject. In fact, the "Practical Guide
to J2 Restoration" by Graham Howell is a good start. It's about the only
detailed "how to" book on MMMs. Besides the L engine is similar to a J2
engine plus two extra cylinders.
Quick advice?
1) Be sure all parts are virtually perfect and unworn.
2) Follow the recommendations on setting the valve clearance carefully.
3) Don't adjust the eccentric bushes rather grind the valve stems to length.
4) Seek professional help if there is any doubt whatsoever.
