Guys,
We seem to have commitments for 16 MMM cars to actually be in
attendance at Gof West at the Queen Mary, July 21-25. Since we still have
nearly 5 months till "show time" surely another six or so should be able to
make the commitment to insure that this is really the biggest North American
gathering of MMM cars ever. Keep in mind, that there really is a growing
interest in these cars and it's up to us to show our T-series friends that
our cars are great fun and can really be driven. Most of us have strong
roots in T-types and lets face it, a decent TC is a far better long distance
touring car than Jack's 12/12 no matter how nicely he's restored it! I'm
going to be lobbying for a distance award!
I've sent a direct e-mail to all MMM members within striking distance
if they have not already registered and committed to bringing cars. I would
like to list all the "definites" that I have to date as well as the short
list of hopefuls. If any of you can offer any assistance or encouragement to
these folks, it could make a difference. In fact, I think I'll cc this memo
to my "short list" OK guys here's the line up to date;
Bill Tantau-PA, Pete Thelander-NE ( plus K2 airline?) ,Larry Long-J2, Jerry
Felper-PA, Bob Zwart-M, Chris Nowlan-L2, Mike Franks-PA ,Brian Kelly-PA, Lew
Palmer-J2, Michael Jacobsen-NA special, Lance Weyman-M, Mickey
Saperstein-F1, Dick McClure-PA Airline, Jack Kahler 12/12 M? or PA?, John
Kernan- NA special, Caig Hall-M
My short list of hopefulls include:
John Feiber-C-type or J2, Terry Sanders-NA, Neil Brooker-L2, Bill
Bollendonk-PA, Peter Boot-PA, Rich Bombard-PB,
John Brinkman-J3, Peter Welch-K3 or ??, Don Wasserman-N special, Don
Martine-NB, Terry Ward-Llewellyn-PA, Bob Sterling-N, Reed Yates-NB, Lou
Marchant-J2.
All of these 14 folks have restored running cars and have been active
in recent years. What other running cars have I missed within striking
distance? I have received regrets from a number of members including Estes,
Simpson, Rich, Marchant. We will also have a number of members in attendance
without cars so our MMM dinner will certainly be well attended. With a bit of
luck, 25 MMM cars would not be a stretch!, lets make it happen!
Cheers,
Chris
