I thought I must be missing the point.
MMM cars did not have lock washers to secure the rear bearing carrier.
Well, to the best of my knowledge, anyway.
They had special "tab washers". These are very thin in section & have
"ears" that you fold over the flat of the nut (you are calling half nut) to
keep it from turning.
I see a message from Pete in LA saying about the same.
