I spoke with Natalie several times in the recent time. Jerry had gone into the
hospital to have a pace-maker installed. She was expecting him to return home
most any day. I have been calling about once a week to check on his condition
and each time I called she had difficulty remembering my name. I am saddened to
hear of his death also. I think he had a daughter also, at least he had spoken
of a daughter to me.
Jerry and I had several conversations when he was getting the NAMMM Newsletter
off the ground and with some small volunteer help from me we improved the
newsletter from typewritten to typeset (now even better with the new Editor
Larry Long). The NAMMR stands as a testament to his work and organization.
One of my fondest memories is staying a day with him and Natalie at his home in
Melbourne Beach and seeing all of his little garages each with one car and
hidden from the authorities who don't allow seperate garages in that seaside
town. Then he took and proudly showed off the University to me and his beloved
palms. My ex-wife and I helped him with some comments and ideas for his book
"1001 Chinese Idioms". I am proud to have known him.
Does anyone have any information as to preference for cards, donations, flowers
etc?
