Terry,

The dynamo armature was never tapered on either end. The gear or fork is a
press fit on the appropriate end. From memory, the key is an 1/8" x 1/2"
Woodruffe but I wouldn't bet on it. Yes, I have the tapered fork for your
vertical drive. Its been machined to accept a lip seal in the underside of
the oil drain gallery.

I have a s/h dip stick I'll sell you for $5 per inch and throw the knob in
free as it has a chip out of it.

I would recommend that you check the journal diameters on your new crank
against the old ones. The P Type Phoenix cranks are quite a bit larger than
the originals so one has to make new bearing sleeves for the front and rear
bearings and bore the block to suit. The donuts can be bored to accommodate
the larger crank diameter without any trouble.

I have been using the Pegasus filter element recommended by Pete, in fact he
suggested it several years ago. However, I like Pip's idea even better so
ask him, "are they even cheaper by the dozen?"

Cheers, "Bob"
