              Sunday was a perfect 24oC spring day in Adelaide South
Australia for the Biennial concours. A smidgin less than 200 cars were on
the reserve, a pleasant sight for any motoring enthusiasts. IMHO.

Our concours strikes a tone midway between a Concour de Elegance and the
Concour d'Etat [originality] thus establishing some common ground between
the two schools of thought. It's also a display of MG's some of which are
not entered in the competition, for people interested in the marque.

The earliest M.G. example on the field was an 'M' type of 1929 parked next
to a K3 [the ex Bira car] and alongside this was an SA sedan and a freshly
restored 'TA' which won the class. At the other end of the M.G. evolutionary
scale we had three RV8's and a fair swag of MGF's in between those classes
were examples of the 'T', MGA, 'B', 'C', Magnettes 'Z' and one Farina, 'Y'
1100+1300 sedans and of course the specials in different racing classes.

I gave my daily driver MGB-LE a quick wipe over with a damp rag and entered
it for judging. I reckon if you're there with your car you might as well pay
the entry fee and give the judges a work out while they're at it.  Surprise,
when the trophies were presented, we took home the second in class.  What a
hoot! This trophy is on the shelf with the other dust collectors we have
taken home over the years and much appreciated too.

No day out with Pommy cars is complete without a challenging problem
surfacing for someone and it was my turn this Sunday. We leapt into the LE,
Carol, me and the trophy and turned the key to be met with silence!  To cut
along story short the culprit was thought to be the inhibitor switch on the
Auto gearbox because the car started when we by passed it.  further
investigation today located the true culprit, the starter solenoid relay.
[Not made by the Prince of Darkness but by Bosch.]  All is well in the camp
now and the car and I will be off on the Climb to the Eagle on Friday, which
commemorates the F1 GP races held in Adelaide. The climb was a part of the
F1 carnival, and well, any excuse to get out and drive with a bunch of fine
motors cars of all Marques and to socialise with their owners.

If you've got this far thanks for sticking with it. Oh! we won a bottle of
Bubbly in the raffle. That eased the pain somewhat. 8^)
