Joe,
Thanks so much for the call. We were only about 3 hours into a 1700 mile
trip, so it was nice to be able to make it home the same day - despite the
sad news about not being able to race. At least we can make Goliad at the
end of the month. It is a bummer not being able to see my seldom seen
friends, including Malcolm.
And your timing was impeccable. Just as you called I noticed the flashing
lights in my mirror - it seems a state trooper wanted to have a word with
me. Of course, I finished the call first. He claimed I was exceeding the
speed limit. Imagine that. At least I got of with a warning and a stern
lecture. I thought maybe I should unload the truck and offer to let him
write the biggest ticket of his career, but discretion prevailed.
Dan Warner also called (thanks, Dan), but at least he waited till the cops
left. Hey Dan, can I just turn in the speeds I was planning to run to get
the trophy? If I showed up with a 205 mph ticket from the DPS, would it
count as the down run?
