There is a critical distinction between a "general aviation" airport and one
used for "scheduled commercial" use. General aviation uses are the common
single engine and twin-engine stuff with private or corporate pilots and
even some charter work. Business uses can include biz-jets (Gulf stream V,
Lear, etc). However, TSA security issues change dramatically when an airport
has scheduled commercial traffic. That is what happened at Inyokern.
Historically a general aviation airport, it all changed when a commercial
air carrier started a scheduled commuter service. Wendover is strange.
Almost all of the stuff there is general aviation. However, there has been
scheduled commuter service from time to time and the casinos run aircraft
charters on a semi-regular basis. It is bizarre but I think the airfield can
be either flavor depending on the phase of the moon!
