El Mirage & environs

I'll be heading to El Mirage for the first time this Sunday, from Ontario; is
it best to head up 15 to 138 to ?

Is Saddleback campground a nice place to perch for Sunday night (I'll have my
camping van)?   Or are there better places up in the mountains back toward
Crestline, etc.?  I'll be looking for another place within commuting distance
of California Raceway (Fontana) by midweek.
