In rally and most of the import world, it's called "antilag" and the basic
concept is to ignite unburned fuel after the exhaust valves have opened in
order to force the exhaust gasses through the turbo faster/harder to get it
to spin up quicker. Almost all rally teams do this from what I am aware, but
it's hard on the turbo.
