Doc,
Pretty much, that has been around since the Clinton days. Two programs,
Carnivore and Echelon (IIR). Briton and Australia cooperate with us. The
UK headquarters is in Cheltenham, Gloustershire, right across the traffic
circle from a hotel I stay in when I'm over there.
Real privacy is a thing of the past. As Dave suggests, just about anything
electronic can be monitored. The good news is there is so much available,
there is no way they can pay attention to it all, unless you become "a
person of interest." Think drinking out of a fire hose.

Ok, I just inished a book. First grade primer..no wait that was last
week...Ok, well then, this one was about a lawyer and a murder trial and
software... After reading the book, I ask a phunny question to
myself...what if spyware is written by the government to keep track of
what us citizens do with our free time, money moral, and everything in
between? What if it is not just for business, etc. What if big brother
really is watching? With all the minds at NSA to write software, what if
the spyware is undetectable?
scary..
