After Bonneville I got young Mr. Grey's insurance company (The General) to
pay to fix my wall and Hawk. He only carried $5000 property damage per
accident, and mine came to $3300. I don't know how the Pepsi
truck and other two cars made out. Or the guy from whom he borrowed the
Acura. And I made Ray
Hedstrom a Hilborn rip off manifold for his 261 Chevy 6. Then I tried to
give one to the Salt To Salt guys or a Buick 8 car but no luck. I took
pictures as I made the thing and I think it will be a DIY artical in the 12
Port News out next. And maybe the BRN.
So I ground a lot of iron out of the ports of my 352 Packard. Cut the valves
to lenth and put keeper grooves in them and sent them off to Al's to cut the
seats and install the bronze guides. Bought two cam blanks from Donnie
Johansen and he is grinding them. Snazzed up some valve covers. Finished
bolting a top loader four speed to the Packard block, did the piloet bushing
deal, and today cut out the block of aluminum that will be the rear mount
and locate the flywheel in the samr place as all the other motors that have
been in my Vega. I have always used a large A frame hoist to
install motors, but decided it was a bad time to work outdoors. So I went to
Pep Boys and bought a Cherry Picker, $107 plus tax. Everything fit corecttly
and nothing was missing. I am becoming worried about the Chinese. Good thing
I don't need a job anymore. RF ----- Original
