Race trailers are grossly heavy because they lack triangulation . One of the axels is there just to carry all the poorly utilized steel . Our trailers weigh more than the race cars they carry . An 18 wheeler type box trailer where the skin is the frame carries 5 or 6 times its weight . At that ratio a 24 ft race car trailer with a stressed skin design would weigh 20% of what they do . |
