The F-1 boys have already spent some time on the salt this year. Their
"record" attempt is probably based on their findings while they were there in
late July or early August. Glen Barrett has been getting blurbs on their
presence but Malcolm Pittwood probably knows more about it than anyone. The
400 means something in Europe. To those who follow land-speed racing outside
of the U S it won't have the luster or the meaning an actual timed run at an
official meet would have. On one hand, it would be nice if they would spend
the $$$$$ helping out the clubs who put the races on but on the other hand they
demand a WHOLE lot of whomever is doing the timing. The time requirements are
considered primary for them if they put up substantial money. Another reason
that no jet cars run at SCTA/BNI or USFRA events.
