Shut down procedures

       THANKS to everyone who contributed to my question about shut down
procedures.The next question is ,are these the same procedures that you use 
when you have an emergency?To me it would make sense to never change,so
they would happen without thinking.
       I would like to know when to use the fire bottles? After the chute
is out or before? Is it better to leave the car in gear with the ignition
off,to help the car slow down faster?
       The reason for so many questions is because I'm working on my bail
out procedures  .
