Downforce reaction under a racer so as used in the Formula 1.....
I have a little bit confussion to follow this note here, I will not try to
explain my "confussion" but what I can explain in a short way is the function
of a downforce tunnel.
The "closed" tunnel cross section under the car has to be in front the
smallest and has to increase on his way to the rear, therefore is it necessary
that the increase is in the first 40 % very small, next 15 % more increase,
between 55 and 75 % the highest increase and the last percents goes back to a
low increase. This is the downforce law.
With this math you are getting a high downforce which is close in front of the
rear wheels where it has to be. If you like to move the downforce further back
move the start of the 15 percent of the "more" increase further back, the back
aera with the low increase needs a minimum of the 10 %, so you have a range of
15 % of moving the downforc backwards.
The opinion that a constant increase of the cross section size creates the
best downforce is not correct, this produced a very bad collapsing of the
downforce underpressure when the air exit out of the tunnel.
