On the subject of running a 27T body backwards as a modified roadster-- I
don't think it would be quite as resistant to spins as the conventional layout
of a modified roadster.
Another thought: Following the letter of the rules suggests there is a lot
that could be done differently on the cowl/hood end of such a car as long as
it all stays inside the inner plane of the tires. Such a "device" could end up
looking like a wide tread, shovel nosed lakester. Somewhat reminiscent of the
BNI logo less wheel coverings.
The same line of thinking could also be applied to competition coupes.
With all due respect to the creativity of some of our racers I don't think it
will help the general image of our sport if we start setting records by
running cars "backwards"....... But; far be it from me to want to throw a wet
blanket on the inherent genetic fire of land speed racing.......
Let's see--maybe if I do a little adobe Photoshop work on a side view of
Doug's modified roadster----
