Jon I worked with a guy who never and I mean never change oil. Added
when it was low. Drove a Dodge Colt 130,000 mile then a Honda Civic
200,000 the only time he changed filters was when the oil light would
come on. 1st time would usually be at about 85,000. Had to sell the
Dodge because the trans gave up.  To each his own....J.D.

Rotella, all at about 9-11,000 miles (the book calls for 10,000 change 
intervals) and put in synthetic Rotella.  Cost is 2x regular stuff.  
I'll report, sooner or later, if I see any differences.
