List:
Having spent some 12 years designing, building, changing,
redesigning, rebuilding and finally finishing my project car - 631
Mclaren M6 backyard replica I can testify to what Neil says: with
emphasis on 'you need an understanding and supportive wife'. The
project events that support the build method are; when the engine
started for the first time and "she" comes alive, when the car is on a
track for the first time and it does left, right,go, stop without any
problems, when the car passes tech for the first time at speed week
(major nervousness ) and you get to paste that blue sticker on the
window, getting out of the car after the rookie run, and after making a
pass in September, not thinking I had made the 200 mph mark (which has
been a personal goal since day 1) ,and having Ed saunter up to the car
and calmly announce "well, you did it.." If you bake the cake yourself
,whether it's a fancy cake or not, it sure tastes good when you get to
take a bite at the Bonneville Salt Flats Raceway.
I have to go get some napkins, a thought about a new comp coupe just
came to mind....
Thanks SCTA and USFRA
