How about C, D, E, & F categories for vintage engine (X, XX, XO and XXO) and
body classes?
Would there be enough interest for adoption of such a thing? There are lots
of possibilities, problems and details in this. But for those of us who love
to build our own stuff and/or who enjoy trips into nostalgia this could open a
lot of lobuck racing opportunities. Current 325 inch limits virtually
guarantee a 8-10K engine budget requirement. Smaller displacements would
allow more use of stock parts and open possibilities for a number of 1930 to
1954 engines not currently competitive.
Take a glance at the growing world of "rat rods" and you'll see a lot of
innovation (some pretty silly) born of limited budgets and lots of creativity.
What do you think?
Dan Warner and Glenn Barrett - Assuming this could get going what would be the
operational, safety and administrative problems to overcome?
