Yes, those Smiths were pretty good instruments. As far as white-on-black
instrument faces are concerned, they are most readable when they are mounted
on a black panel. The added contrast makes the white stand out.

I couldn't agree more, Neil. I always thought the white-on-black speedos
and rev-counters made by Smiths in England were the epitome of good taste,
and they went even one better by making a special rev-counter for the
Vincent Black Lightning mc with yellow-on-black. Bill
