I dunno, from the sounds of it the guy let out the clutch and just let it
wind up and die, like he didn't know what he was doing until the engine
had already self-destructed at which point he brought the car to a stop,
put out the flames, and got it home before the fire dept could show up.
I would say if you're even on this list, you're a better and faster driver
(in all areas) than this guy. Though you gotta admit, the potato-shaped
pistons have to make some damn interesting conversation pieces at his
house! My favorite part at the end, instead of trying to get that engine
replaced in kind, he's going to put a *faster* one in - cause I'm
sure that was the problem here... err, yeah. Maybe he should invest some
of that money in a driving school... haha.
I think if you do that and are reasonably paying attention and understand
that going from 5th-redline to 2nd is bad, you can get the clutch back in
before anything serious happens. It doesn't take long, but there is some
amount of time required to do what he did, I believe enough to react.
