Nigel;
There should not be any problem with errors if the thermocouple connections
are soldered-- providing the two pins are in the same connector. The saving
grace is something called the "Law of Intermediate Metals"-- another metal,
in this case solder or the connector pins, can be inserted in the
thermocouple leads without creating an error.
The trick is that any stray thermocouple EMF (voltage) created by this new
junction in one lead is added to the measurement thermocouple EMF but it is
subtracted from that EMF in the other lead due to an identical new junction.
If the two "intermediate" junctions are at identical temperatures and they
are identical metals, no error is introduced.
You should be OK.

Keith,
I assume your soldering the thermocouple connections, not the
conditioned 0-10v signal going to the data logger. You might want to check
the calibration once your done. By nature of how they work, ie by heating a
junction of dissimilar metals, you have just introduced another dissimilar
junction into the circuit which can throw it off. That is why there are
specific connectors for thermocouples. These generally have screw terminals
for this reason.
Nigel....Down in NZ where it's definitely getting cooler but the thought of
makin to the 'great white dyno' in August is keeping me warm
