Hi Folks,
I wrote this note about the FIA and their earlier organizations, to explain a
little bit the history and background of this organization and for a better
understanding of the FIA.
For the USA and for the rest of the World it needs sometimes different
"Officials".
After the WW II, when Hot Rodding and Dry Lake Races start to be really popular
it was necessary to create a special organization for this (different) kind of
speedrecord.
A worldwide organization like FIA would never be interest in a so country
special motorsport competition and also - would never had the background to
manage this so as it was necessary. But on the other side - for the
international, worldwide record competition, it was important to have a
organization, who set the standard for the people or companies who like to run
in the "normal" speed competition.
One reason why the official water speed record list starts not before 1928,
was, that there was no international used rule, every country used there own
rules, there was no comparison between the different records possible. Than in
1928 they create a international standard and from there on it was possible to
go for an official WSR.
The real problem with the FIA is, that our sport is so small to all the other
competition they rules, that our sport is uninterested for the FIA and also
they took not really care to have the specialist for us.
I remember very well when Jim True set his record in 2001 - this guys who was
sent from the FIA didn't know not the right class for Jim - this hurts.
So, don't blame the FIA to much - for this big monster of organization our
sport is simple too small.
See ya
