I do find that I have less heartburn buying one of their tools and then
cutting & welding it to make a special tool of some sort than I would have
doing the same thing to a Craftsman or Snap-On tool.
The old saying "Caveat Emptor" must have been written with Harbor Freight in
mind. Some of their stuff is worthwhile, some is only suitable for a
landfill. Buying from a catalog is risky but if you can look at the items in
person, you can see what is worth buying.
