The pigment was aluminum powder, an explosive under the right conditions.
The military has an underground explosive device that blows a cloud of
Al powder into a confined area and after a delay lights it.
Aluminum powder was also used in the SPGG's used to start the turbo
pumps in the Atlas missile. (Solid Propellant Gas Generator)
Sooo , the Hindenberg was coated with a thin layer of rocket fuel.
