Russ, Back when (2 years ago March 31st) worked for IBM I had access to the library at the main IBM San Jose manufacturing site and the library of IBM's Santa Teresa Lab where I worked for the last 25 years. There were over 100 engineering magazines available and many white papers, conference reports etc. I have purchased books and SAE technical papers, I recommend the one on the Goldenrod. My favorite monthly (I had a subscription a work) was Design News. I frequently ran across little jewels of information (to me anyway) in articles/papers that at first glance couldn't have anything to do with cars. I ran across an article titled 'Flat Drive Belt Systems Analysis' or something like that in Design News many years ago. The authors were comparing different high speed non metallic drive systems and chose to use a car alternator for the load in their test setup. A major source of my information was Smokey in Circle Track. That's the long answer to your question Russ. The short answer: From stuff I've read over the last -- too many years and some basic facts i.e.; 746 watts = 1 HP and volts times current = watts Engine oil flow.. -- Good luck.. I think it would be much simpler to buy a spark box that is designed to work with the voltage you have than add a battery, battery hold down, cables and clamps not to mention the extra weight. It isn't that difficult, folks. |
