I have experienced continued problems keeping plugs in my car for more
than 4 runs at maxton or about 6-8 runs on the dragstrip under a nitrous
load. I run plugs that are three heat ranges cooler than normal, retard the
timing according to NOS recommendations, and use up to 116 octane for a
250hp nitrous shot, and I have rejetted the carb so the plugs are slightly
darker than normal when the nitrous is on.I have used Champion, Accel, and
NGK mplugs, all to no avail.Am I asking too much from the plugs? Is this
kind of wear normal for nitrous run engines? At Maxton the nitrous is used
only in third gear for about 16-17 seconds. Would a supercharger do the same
thing to the plugs? Any comments are welcomed.
