Thanks Jim. I think I am going to buy a pair of Suzuki leathers. I am also
checking into Suzuki sponsoring me. Now I'm worried about what it will take
to get the bike to pass inspection. After reading the rules it seems it
should pass except for a fuel shut-off and a lanyard.

Jim

Hello Jim,
I saw your question on the Salt Flats board, I ran into the same
dilema with my leathers. They zipped together in the back. What I had to do
to pass tech was take them to my local seamstress and she sewed in a heavy
duty zipper that would zip them all the way around. She did it in a way that
I was able to still use the original zipper, which I zipped up after the one
going all the way around, so I actually had two zippers for the leathers.
The cost was less than $20.00 although I don't remember exactly how much. It
really isn't that difficult for someone that has a machine that will sew
leather. There is about an 8 inch gap at the front where you can't zip them
quite 360 degrees, but they still passed the tech inspection. That would
probably be the easiest way for you to use your existing leathers without
spending alot of money. If you send them to Barnacle Bill, it will probably
be quite alot more money for something a local sewing shop should be able to
do. I hope this helps you. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
