As you may have guessed my mailing on UK fatsest was misdirected - but I
loved the responses and the idea that a Morgan 3 wheeler might be fast.
Sorry about that...
But you may be interested to know that ........
until 1999 the fastest outright speed on the surface of the UK was a water
speed record at 260 mph, which still stands from 1959, (now the fastest is
held by a land based jet car at 300.3 mph),
the fastest UK wheeldriven record is held by a Motorcycle (this might not
be a surprise to ECTA members) at 222.19 mph,
the fastest car in the UK covered the 1/4 mile long timing trap 2 ways at
an average of 211.26mph,
the over 8000cc capacity (an upper 'A class' car in the USA) wheeldriven
class records for 1 mile and 1 kilo are held by Malcolm Campbell at 174 mph
set in 1927 on a beach................
Anyone planning to come to the UK?....................
