John; That's the issue in not knowing the temp. A sprint car friend of
mine asked what temp we were running and I said I didn't know. He said
that they put an heat exchanger on their 360 sprint motor and lowered
the oil temp to 240 - 250 and the bearings look like new. Before they
ran about 300 and the bearings always looked flaky. Not real bad, but
not real good like their buddy that had a water - oil heat exchanger
I never thought the oil would get real hot in a Bonneville run but
thought I would ask if anyone knew for sure. It would be no big deal to
put an exchanger in the car. But only if it needed it.
