As the North South poles in the magneto reverse as it rotates, doesn't this
cause a positive negative switch between each spark? Sort of an AC effect?
If so, a diode would only work half the time.

I have an 860 Ducati; stock they have an ignition relay that, when off,
grounds
the two CDI coils. Turn the key, they are 'un-grounded'; fine as long as
the
relay keeps working, but it makes the CDI ignition rely on the battery just
for
that.
For the track and emergencies it is nice to just run with the independant
ignition.
Long story short; a single kill switch allows one coil to misfire the other
so I
rigged a pair of diodes; electrical 'one-way valves'.
In your case; ganging the HT leads, I don't know.
