Hi Russ,
I like to discuss modifying production stuff with the designer of the
stuff that I want to mess with. For instance when I want to talk to someone
about M/T Bonneville Tires, I call M/T and ask for an engineer. You might
try that approach.
One thing that I have found out about trimming tires is that the OD of the
tread is not necessarily concentric with the cord structure. Out of round
is what I am trying to say. Some are nonconcentric by as much as 1/16". The
tire tech guys can also tell you how much rubber is
there....thickness...... and how close you can get to the cord structure.
Concentricity is the key apparently.
Food for thought...
