Dave I agree that 5000 lbs. is a heavy car but the Goodyear race tire catalog
does have the recommended the load rang for each type of landspeed tire it
sells. ( The Talladega is rated @ 3000 lbs. each ) This doesn't answer the
question regarding drag tires @ Maxton but some information is available. As
far as weight and racing goes the proof is in the pudding, when you only have
so much to work with you make do with what you have, we can't run wings and
have X lift, weight makes sense to me, I think the records bear that out.
